Jewish Calendar Feasts. There are essentially three major categories of jewish holidays, celebrations, and commemorations found in the jewish calendar. The jewish year (5784, 5785, etc.) begins on rosh hashanah and ends just before the following rosh hashanah.

The 15th of shevat on the jewish calendar is the day that marks the beginning. The holiest day of the jewish year is observed with strict fasting and ceremonial repentance.
